Lukasz Knutelski, of Millbury, is facing nearly 10 felony charges from the alleged fight with Shrewsbury police officers on early Sunday morning, Aug. 27.
A Worcester man called the police just after 2:15 a.m. to report that someone had stolen two jet skis from his dock on Lake Quinsigamond. He gave them a description of the boat used in the getaway and told investigators it was heading toward Norcross Point in Shrewsbury.
Two Shrewsbury officers launched the department's boat and began searching the area when they came upon Knutelski's vessel between Bay View Drive and Canna Drive, officials said.
He was not happy to see them.
Knutelski shouted curses at the officers as they approached his boat and became combative as they tried to board his craft, Shrewsbury police said. He even ordered his dog to attack them.
The officers tried to subdue Knutelski, but he grabbed one of their stun guns and used it on them, police said. During the fight aboard his boat, Knutelski grabbed something off the deck and pointed it at the officers, saying it was a gun, authorities said.
They were eventually able to get Knutelski under control and arrested him, Shrewsbury police said. One officer was taken to UMass Memorial, where doctors evaluated his injuries.
Knutelski is charged with:
- OUI-liquor (Boat)
- Attempt to disarm a police officer (taser)
- Aggravated assault
- Assault with a dangerous weapon (Four counts)
- Assault and battery on a police officer
- Resisting arrest
Police did not find the stolen jet skis. Worcester police are handling that investigation.
